2012 West Virginia Day

For anyone that follows this blog knows that the majority of the content comes is about happenings in West Virginia. I am very proud of being from West Virginia! I wouldn't have it any other way. Every June 20th West Virginian's celebrates, we celebrate the secession from the state of Virginia, during the height of the Civil War, which lead to the creation of the great state of West Virginia.

Memorial Day

On a day like today many of us celebrate the time off and the kick off to summer, but let us not forget the reason we have this holiday...

Happy New Year!!

Here is hoping everyone had a great 2011 and an even better 2012. Now it is time to relax with my family on the beach and start the year out right with some surf fishing. Look for a few more salty posts as I left Foggy Mountain for the week and a new set of goals for 2012.

Random Ramblings: Halloween Edition

It's been a long while since I've done a Random Ramblings. What better time to start doing one again that Halloween! Like I said in the Bear of an Adventure post, I have been slacking but I am going to try get start getting back into the swing of posting more regularly. I'm going to lay out a few things in this following post for everyone to looks forward to or not. This will be our own little form of Trick-or-Treat, if there is something that you see that you want to see sooner, let me know and you just might get your treat posted first, or I might have to trick you into holding out to the last one. That is the beauty of this day...

  • Gear Reviews: I have a bunch of them still in the works. If you have been following along you know I have the been testing Seemz Scent Elimination System products and a Moultrie M-80 trail camera. The Seemz product testing is still going on, but the Moultrie M-80 is finally coming to an end so look forward to that in the near future! Not only that but I also have the Leatherman Kick finished review coming up soon also. A few other goodies I've collected along the way also, but for those you'll have to wait and find out.
  • Recipes: A long, long time ago I promised my recipe for Black Berry jam, I haven't forgotten. I also have a quick 60 Second Venison Marinade that is always good to add a kick to your deer steaks or any steaks for that matter.
  • This is a little bit of old news, but I'll share it anyways. A week ago, the day after we went on a Bear of an Adventure, one of the guys who went with us, James, shot this great looking 8-point on the property next to Foggy Mountain.
  • Good luck and be safe out there hunting while the rut is getting ready to kick into high gear!

Happy Memorial Day!!

Happy Memorial Day!!

I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend of camping, fishing, or even just relaxing around the house.
But let us not forget the true meaning of this holiday, to pay our respects
to those that have and are serving in our Armed Forces!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

Hope everyone had their plate fulls of corn beef and cabbage along with some green beer and saved the good stuff for later in the night. So here's to a good 2011 St. Patty's Day, the kick off of March Madness, and a Mountaineer victory. The best news of the day, next year St. Patrick's Day is on a Friday.  I'll be back in school so that means it should be an interesting time to say the least!! On the moving front it looks like this weekend will be the final push and we should be done, so expect semi regular posts again next week. Thanks for bearing with me!!

Now to leave you with one of my favorite St. Patrick Day tunes..

Happy New Year!!

Normally I would post a picture to celebrate the holiday, but considering I was out half the night last night, not to mention yesterday was also my 24th birthday, I'm sure you can imagine I'm exhausted. So today I wish you all a Happy New Year!! Now go enjoy the day doing whatever you choose. As for myself the couch is begging me to keep it company and watch some football with it. Hopefully I'll make it into the woods this weekend, actually I know I will, I already got the phone call and meeting time for tomorrow. So expect an update in the next few days and hopefully, if we're lucky, we'll find a shed or two along the way. But as couch is starting to beckon to me louder, I leave you with this quote to remember as we move forward into the new year.

The Goods

I hope everyone had an great Christmas and got to spend sometime with their friends and family!!

Her new Camo Hoodie.
I had a great Christmas Eve and Christmas. On Christmas Eve, my parents always have a seafood dinner/party for everyone to come enjoy, it's always filled with great food and laughter, this was actually this first year I got to introduce Cassie to this tradition. Of course as I've got older, the nights have gotten longer, and as there are no little children left in my immediate family right now, it makes for a nice Christmas morning to sleep in on. Once we were all awake and functioning, we began exchanging our gifts, it's always an interesting time giving and receiving gifts at my parents house, but this year wasn't too bad. I knew what they had planned to get me, but as I said before this was Cassie and I's first Christmas together so it was time to see if my had actually done well enough on her presents or not. As it turns out, I didn't do that bad at all for her, she loved her Fiesta Wear amongst other things as well, but the one she said she liked the most was her Cabela's Seclusion 3D hoodie I had gotten her, now she has something to wear next time we go shooting. Haha. As well as I had thought I did for her, she blew me out of the water with what I got. But instead of going on forever about everything I got, here's a few of my favorites:

The new 2010 Camo NFL (Redskins) OnField Gear

Picture my parents got me from a local artist.
And my parents got me some smaller stuff, but their main gift was cash for me to put towards something I've been wanting for a while now. A Nikon D90, hopefully I will be purchasing the camera soon after the new year begins. This should lead to me being able to get you guys a lot better and more pictures on here (as long as I remember to take it. Haha.).
